Week 4 Entry

This week involved more hands on work using the references gained from the week before.

The tasks this week included completing prototypes for the Building Gore Rig, Bone LOD, a Tentacle Rig and various animations for both third and first person camera.

All of the tasks were fun to work on, hopefully this attitude carries on right through the project.

Tim Bewick - Week 4

This week the programmers have been working on the technical design document draft. I worked on documenting a shader for showing reinforced cover, how the player will be able to move things in the environment using their nanobots and place them to make traps, defences and choke points. I also worked on documenting some of the external middleware tools we will be using, the input system and some diagrams for the menu system.

Hey Hey.

This week was mostly spent writing content for the TDD. It started off with sorting out how to get FMOD to work within Gamebryo, then Use case diagrams for Ai, then wrote the Scavenging system for weapons and nanobots (the resource to fire bullets). I've pretty much just been working through use case and Scavenging for the whole week.

Its all done now though =).

Week 4 of Pre-Production

Hello E!

Its the end of week 4 and everyones been stuck into pre-viz/concept art or techinical design. After feedback from our guest at Sidhe we have changed a few things and dropped many more to better scope the project. The main one being the cover system which would of had to be fully dynamic to work in our enviroment, a programmer nightmare!

The artist pre-viz is really helping everyone really get into the world of our concept and motivating us programmers to make sure our design is perfect so everything we can see now will be shiny and real-time!

This week I re-searched how to achieve bloom via shaders (fairly easy), the gamebryo particle system and the Raknet networking client/server model. Ive also put my ideas forward to the artists for character and UI designs and am now quite interested in handling the UI programming.

Blake Week 4 Pre-Viz

Been doing a lot of pre-viz concepts for the city

Here are some drawings I did :

Jason - 23rd January - WEEK FOUR

These past two weeks have been extremly busy working on Pre-Visulization, myself i have been delegated and working on most of the research.

Roll on the actual project im really looking forward to getting into modelling the enviroment, Blakes work is looking awsome and i think our enviroment is going to look great if we can keep it too the style and look of his concepts.

Id just like to say that i thought the Sidhe guys feedback was invaluable its a shame we couldent get other industry people in, or even students who have previously finished the course to come in and offer feedback.

Design Update

Just a few notes on design:

- There are five weapons
- Pistol, machine gun, shotgun, sniper and Mine layer/rocket launcher
- No cost to change weapons
- Weapons will take differing amounts of time change between
- Radio informs the player where the enemy is coming from for the upcoming wave
- Tutorial
- In-game tutorial will introduce the player to the controls for the game
- Players can move objects in the environment during the day and the night
- Players will be given a chance to harvest the dead when all the enemies are killed during the day
- Still thinking about the mobile-bed or tent mechanic

For the moment, these are the main design issues. There is still a sense that maybe the scope is a still a bit too big. This weekend I will be revising the GDD even further. Hopefully this will help a bit more in the scoping process. Right now, my mindset is "Make it shiny!" This will probably be quite an epic task but hopefully, by next week, I will be able to direct people to the GDD for any design related issues.

Until next time, keep trucking along people, and stay tuned for updates...

Progress of previs

The art team has been progressing nicely so far through the pre-visualisation period. There has been some schedule issues which have required a handful of schedule amendments to fix.

A lot of the technical obstacles the art team foresaw have been dealt to and I feel pretty confident to enter the production in terms of technical requirements and asset pipelines.

Still the compositioning of pre visualisation material to happen late today and tomorrow morning.

TDD is where its at

Prototypes are done and its time to concentrate on the TDD. The art team is still hard at work on previsualisation.

The TDD Draft and previsualisation are due on this friday.

I will talk about how those go down later on this week.

Tame Week 3

Last week I was assigned to collect reference for all the animation needed in the game including: Octopus, Military, Scientist, Brutes (Apes), Stealth and other references. A lot of the reference was gathered from the VFS, youTube and cgSociety.

Anthony and I got an animated gore rig prototype working in Maya. Although the dynamics did not simulate 100%, everything worked as we planned. Now we are working on a Physx based one.
